The nation of Panama has declared that they will be closing the Panama Canal to foreign ships as of 2012.  It is vital for US interests that we find a new way to get ships back and forth between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.  Using the information sheet provided, you will plan the next canal.  You will:

1. Demonstrate where the new canal will be on the map provided.
2. Fill out the chart explaining any political, military and economic issues that arise from your canal placement.
